Training Log 5.5.24

Overall – during leg day 2 weeks ago strained my left hamstring on my last set of GHR. Now things are feeling more normal. Will be transitioning to the new version of powerlifting + 5K through CHP. I ended up dropping the training maxes by 10% and already the program looks more reasonable. This was taking ideas from Jim Wendler’s 5/3/1, when you hit a wall back it down. At the A4M module V course this weekend and I think it has been very beneficial. Nice picking the brains of some thought leaders.

Training/Running/BJJ
Just hit 2 lifts this week – M upper and Tu lower at a much reduced intensity. Things felt fine, avoided resisted knee flexion in isolation to give the hamstring more time to recover. I have been doing banded seated leg curls almost daily for rehab. Running 2 sessions this week. This has fallen off a little and I think the new program should help with this. BJJ 1 training session this week at American Top Team in West Palm Beach – guys were very nice and they had a fair amount of really strong brown belts. Good training, I’m out of shape.

Sleep:
Improved the past three nights because I’m out of town. Overall, my sleep is shit with the kid at home.

Stress:
Up this week with business stuff, travel, sleeping in a hotel. Poor travel day and taking a board test yesterday.

Learning:
Awesome this week. Need to be more focused on ILE now that I’m done with this board exam. I’ll be in a crunch over the next 6 months. Curious to see how everything turns out.
