This has been a challenging year. Our second kid was born mid-December, got home from a mobilization and started a new job with a lot more responsibility than I initially expected. Training has been consistent. Just finished week 12 of Bodybuilding and triathlon training, which was highly modified. I have just not had the time needed to get what I wanted done. I do have a couple things I’m working on currently – still working through ILE, have the A4M test coming up at the end of the month. The past two months, I have put out articles consistently.
Training: Week 12 Bodybuilding and Tri Training
This is the third deload week. I’m considering going to the updated CHP strength and 5k program, but I do have concerns about the intensities and my ability to handle that over the first 4 weeks. I couldn’t even handle the average to savage 1.0 training volume and intensity prior and feel like I’m going to be in the same boat going forward on this program. This past week I was able to handle the bench volume of 265x8x5 and squat 435x6x5, but it didn’t feel great. Body weight has continued dropping due to poor calorie intake, due to lack of time to eat and stress.
Sleep:
Trash – lots of sub 6 hour days and that’s my minimum threshold where I notice a performance decline.
BJJ:
3 sessions. I had to modify the days considerably and am now training Sun, Wednesday and Friday. Overall, this is in a good place for now.
Running:
Two sessions this past week. Not where I want it to be, but feeling beat up after runs.
Stress:
Very high
Learning:
Working through ILE slowly. Need to pick up the pace the back half of these 6 months. Goal is just to get through this in the next year. Have to get in my normal drill on top of it and it’s just a lot. Have the A4M written test in two weeks and need to find the practice tests to be successful at the written exam. Hoping I can just pass it and learn a lot at the conference in a couple weeks. At a minimum, I just hope that’s a good learning experience.
