Training Log 6.13.21

Adjusting to the summer heat is becoming more challenging with time. I feel like it goes from 70 to 90 and humid and it takes a couple weeks to adjust.

Training: week 10 of strength and 10k program. This week I noticed the lower body days feel great, but the upper body lifts took a major hit over the past two weeks. I’m either overtrained or deep in the over reaching phase. I don’t think I’ve found the right flow of days on and off. My squat is feeling strong, but my deads are also down. I hit the 495x2x4, but pulls are still down. Bench took a huge dive and I feel like my bench numbers are way down. I’m uncertain if it’s the overall intensity and I’ve been too close to 90% for the past couple weeks or what.

BJJ: Last week had an in house tournament and went 2-0 against our sister school. I felt a little recovered from the prior week where I felt weak. Our head instructor is out with another surgery. I’m hopeful that where I end up in a month has the ability to train as I would like to not have to take months off of training again.

Sleep: Took a dip last week. I think this is where I really need to be mindful. I keep having periods of time where I’m going to bed later and later. I don’t know if this is because the sun is up until 9p so I naturally want to stay up later or if it’s just me being a little disorganized.

Stress: Hit a major high on Tuesday. I’m going to be mobilized in the next month and I just have the sensation that I want to make things right before I go. I want things to go well at home. Overall stress is up and will continue to climb over the next month.

Learning: Got through Freedom by Sebastian Junger and First time dad. Working through Thing again. I want to be more thoughtful into my learning process over the next couple weeks.
