The best couple weeks I feel like I hit a wall. We had promotions at BJJ and the competition classes have been taking a lot out of me. The week following all my upper body lifts and deadlifts were down significantly. I was thankful that I was able to get some time in for reading today. I’m leaving home for 4 months in a month and this is creating some additional stress.
Training: Week 9 Strength and 10k Complete Human Performance – As previously stated the upper body stuff has been trash. Just felt like I was in the overtraining stage for the past couple weeks. I dropped the accessory day to try and recover. I don’t understand why my squat has remained stable. I hit 480x2x4 and 440x4x4 and felt great, but the deadlift last week felt like trash. I was supposed to work up to 2 sets of 10 at 475 and was only getting 5 and 4 reps. Similarly for bench I’ve consistently been increasing reps and hitting 5 sets of 8 at 280 and this week was stalling around rep 5. I’m hopeful with improved sleep I can get this sorted out.
BJJ: Was going very well. Was doing well and have continued increasing consistency and have been training 5x a week. From a competition standpoint I felt like my guard was peeking. After the promotion competition class I was roasted.
Sleep: Pretty consistent this past week with time in bed of 7:18 and sleep time of 6:30. We bought a portable air conditioner for our bedroom which should help the quality of my sleep significantly. This is exciting to me.
Stress: Has been high the past several weeks and I need to spend some time planning this week. While I say this, I feel like prayers have been answered and this has provided me with some peace. I’m hopeful that I’m able to find some focus and clarity
Learning: Have been very consistent with my podcasts. Reading has been up and down. Working through journals and the Integral Life Practice book. I keep thinking that I want to pay to have someone develop a 5 year curriculum for me.
