This week is going to be shorter as I just need to complete the task. This week I got through a couple of books on raising puppies as we picked one up yesterday. As we are crate training, I’m exhausted and didn’t get much sleep. On top of this we’re going through a move rightContinue reading “Rolling Reflections #7”

Week 5 Notes – Program Post-Deployment Training Log Week 5/12 The Workout: Timing couldn’t be better on doing the week with 1 set of 25 reps. I was able to get through all the workouts this week in short time. I kept the carry weights the same, I increased the pull up time 15 seconds,Continue reading “Training July 5, 2020”
Rolling Reflections #6
Dan John talks about the wisdom of one of his teachers. It was a nun who spoke on a spectrum of Work, Rest, Play, and Pray. I think my focus as of late has strictly been on the work. It’s getting to the point where I need to pay my dues to Rest, Play andContinue reading “Rolling Reflections #6”

Week 4 Notes – Program Post-Deployment Training Program The Workout: I still enjoy the structure of the program. The overall time of the program continued to build over the 4 weeks. By the end of this the program was taking a little over an hour to get through the workouts. I continue to feel limitedContinue reading “Training Log June 28, 2020”
Rolling Reflections #5
Transitions cause growth and I feel like our whole society is continuing to be stressed during these times. An economic shutdown and path for reopening, a pandemic and protests around racial injustice are currently stressing the United States. I feel that part of the uneasiness is coming from a lack of unification. In a pastContinue reading “Rolling Reflections #5”

Week 3 Notes – program Post-Deployment Training Program The Workout: The majority of my training over the past decade has been in the 5-10 rep range. So the 3 sets of 8 felt a lot more familiar. The biggest thing I played around with this week was the load on the carries. My limitation isContinue reading “Training Log June 21, 2020”
Rolling Reflections #4
Another wonderful week of learning and opportunity for growth. I went back to work after a recent mobilization and I get the opportunity to continue working on my workflow. The major themes I continue to come back to are “forgiveness and grace” and parallels. I think I’m driving my wife crazy with the habit ofContinue reading “Rolling Reflections #4”

Week 2 Notes: The workout: I found the 2 sets of 15 more fulfilling than the 1 set of 25. The workout just seems to flow with the loaded carries and the mobility work. I’m really starting to appreciate increasing workout density by hitting multiple movements per set. The correctives are a nice touch andContinue reading “Training Log June 14, 2020”
Rolling Reflections #3
Another challenging week. I continue to meditate on the concept of growth in transitions. This concept directly parallels BJJ, in that most of the submissions and attacks come from the transition. The transition is when stability is lacking the most. That appears to be the direct consequence of lacking stability – a transition ie change.Continue reading “Rolling Reflections #3”
Training Log Week 6/7
Template Thoughts: I still haven’t found a practical way of posting my training log onto this site. I’m probably just going to end up posting a read only link to the sheets account. My goal is to continue working on the base excel/sheets template so I can give it out if people want to trackContinue reading “Training Log Week 6/7”
