Training Log 5.25.24

Training/Running:
CHP PL and 5k V3.0 Wk 3. This program took about 2 weeks to adapt to. So far I think they’ve done a better job with volume management than their past programs. I think the past mistake was taking training maxes from Average to Savage, which were more absolute maxes instead of dropping by 90% to get training max numbers for this program. I elected to do the 4 day a week program and overall it’s gone well. It’s a heavy upper and lower day and a dynamic and higher volume UE and LE day. 3-4 days of running per week. I’ve been more consistent with the running. The Monday of the lift and a longer run workout has been my big struggle as I just don’t have 2 hours to allocate to this type of training.

BJJ: 4 sessions this week. Most I’ve trained since my second son was born. Things feel good. Harder training with the heat, but feel like my game is progressing well.

Sleep: Averaging 5:30 hours. I’ve been helping my wife with more of the night feeds and days like today I just stayed up from 3:15 in the morning. It’s been close to 6 months with poor sleep and it’s been a major challenge. I don’t have a good short term answer to improve this. Plan now is to just wait it out.

Stress: High. Trying to figure out my longevity at my current job. I’m fairly certain I’m just going to open my own practice and I’m curious how that conversation goes if I elect to leave. Considering making a large financial decision.

Learning: moderate this week. I passed my most recent board exam and found out this past week. Have an oral board next month. Got through a couple ILE lessons this past week, which isn’t enough. Hopefully can get through a couple more tomorrow. Knowledge project had a great podcast with Morgan Hausel this past week.
