Training Log 3.3.24

Been falling way behind on consistent writting on this blog. I have been writing for my works blog on the past couple weeks and now is the time to focus on getting the training log out consistently as well. If I can get a couple days of this going a week that’s going to make me feel better about this and help develop the practice of writing. Training has not been great for lifting, running or BJJ. The addition of our second kid has really impacted this for me and I don’t have a great solution beside do what I can until the kids are actually sleeping again. Worked the Arnold for the 11th year. It’s hard to believe that I started working this in 2013. Getting through newborn phase, potty training, and a promotion at work two months ago has been an extreme challenge.

Training: CHP Bodybuilding and Tri Week 5
This week felt easier lifting than the last week which was more intense. The bench work was 265x8x5. I’m not getting as sore from the volume so I’m probably getting a little used to it. Alternating OHP and bench has been more challenging than I expected. I think I’ve previously responded better to hitting bench and OHP on a weekly basis. Squats were 385x10x4 followed by 1.5 squats of 345x10x2. I really don’t get a lot out of the RDLs and think switching those to a hex bar deadlift is a better way to go. I think this program is sufficent for the time being. My time in the gym is very limited and it’s driving me a little crazy.

BJJ: 2 sessions this past week. We started potty training and I had to miss a morning. It sucks.

Run: 1 long run and 1 short run. Not enough voume here either.

Sleep: Poor

Stress: Very High

Learning: Sucked eggs. Got in podcasts. A couple ILE lectures. I’m way behind on all of this stuff. Need to get back on a schedule. I feel like with the Arnold, potty trianing this past weekend. I didn’t have time to do anything.
