Training: Week 3 A2S 1.0. Training has felt like trash over the past couple of weeks. We had our kid second kid right after starting this program. To say that the second one has been more of a challenge would be an understatement. Squat is behind because I missed a day with the birth of our kid. Squat was 405×10, 375×10, 350×20. Bench was 280x 8, 265×8, 245×16, deads were 455×8,5,5. OHP was 185×8, 175×8, 160×15. Total volume has dropped significantly because I’m trying to get in, hit the main lifts, maybe an accessory, do a quick run and get out.
Running:
3 SSR following the lifts.
BJJ: 3 sessions this past week.
Stress: very high. Have a lot of changes going on. Hopefully things work out over time. It’s going to be getting through the newborn phase, getting re-established at work, and getting used to being home after the most recent deployment. Outlet has always been working out and it’s become an increased burden on my wife with the second kid.
Sleep: Absolute trash. Probably 5-5:30 hours a night with the new kid. Don’t have any good short term solutions for this. Easily impacting my ability to train. Biggest drop off has been upper body.
Learning: Finished Deep Nutrition. I’m way behind on ILE. I was dumb and should have finished the first topic prior to the kid and it didn’t happen. I’m in the old scenario where I get caught up not wanting to write papers. I’m in a bind because I haven’t had any free time to just knock these out. I have been reading at least a topic a day and doing my podcasts. Will need to refocus this week and work on being more consistent.
Year in Review:
It was an abosulutely wild year. Changed jobs, got mobilized, had another kid, bought a new house, and 2 grandparents died. I view the next couple years as a significant transition. The next 5 years will be crazy until the kids are both in school. I have some agressive goals and I’m curious to see how many of them can get knocked out in the next year.
