Training Log 11.26.23

Training: This was the first week of doing the operator template. I was home for the past week which was a more major change. It’s nice having good equipment again and barbells that don’t slide and flooring that’s more stable. I feel like my mechanics are off and it will be a period of time for these things to normalize. I’m trying to take it a little bit easier on the total number of sets with the first week and just ran everything through for 3 sets with the exception of Wednesday. Numbers were squat 385, front squat 235, SSB 285, deadlift 385, clean and press 165, Rack pull 420, bench 265, DB incline 90, and OHP 170. Things felt fine from a load standpoint and this was really just and intro week for everything. I did pull ups after each set and ended with a BW single leg variant and I think I should add some push ups to this as well. We’ll see how things go.

Run: Ran for 15 min following all the lifts. They were all LSS and I’m uncertain what I want to do with my running training at this point. I think it’s going to be based on my work schedule and I’ll probably just add a running session after some of my work days once that restarts.

BJJ: four sessions this past week – 2 open mat, class, & comp class. More physically taxing this past week with our old more experienced training group. I felt it the most in my neck.

Sleep: the hours are down from the past couple weeks, but the quality is better. I’ll likely start wearing my Oura ring at night again just to get improved sleep tracking. I’m uncertain I get a lot out of it, but my Garmin watch annoys my wife and the quality is likely decreased so I’ll switch back to the Oura.

Stress: Up, just feeling lost from a work perspective and expect to have our second kid in the next couple weeks. We’ll see how everything pans out over the next couple months.

Learning: Working through Investing for Dummies and finishing the last couple chapters of Building the Elite. My reading time is generally down. I’ve been neglecting ILE because of not having larger chunks of time and just not wanting to do it, which is dumb. My medical reading has not really been where I would like it to be and I need to consider getting better at doing this again.
