Training: Week 2 strength + 10k. Volume on the lower body day wrecked my back. Trying to do high rep deads after heavy squats still seems a little dumb to me. Probably should have had a lower training max for the squat and DL which would have made the training more manageable. As such strained my back and was miserable most of the week. Was able to hit the rep UE lift on Thursday and took the full body day off on Friday. Had to limit running because I felt like trash. Back felt better after movement, so was able to do BJJ this week. UE lifts were 295x5x2, Squat 500x2x4, DL 445x10x2.
BJJ: Three sessions this week – M, W, Sunday. Glad I’m feeling more mobile today. Training has been ok. Glad the tournament is done and hopefully classes get more consistent this week.
Run: Interval run on Monday, then just did cross training to loosen up my back on Tu, Fri, Sat. It was frustrating because I really wanted to be more consistent with this. Think I’ll be fine for the tempo run on Wednesday.
Sleep: Up to 7:20. Feel more fatigued than normal.
Stress: Low
Learning: Working through Kissinger’s diplomacy. Reading through the Orthodox Way. Started A4M’s practice management course, which I really have enjoyed. Working slowly through the CS50 course – this I’m struggling to get into because it’s a completely new language. Hopefully by the end of this course I’m feeling more comfortable with it. Passed ILE phase one and hopefully start phase II in a couple weeks. I think my relative lack of dedicated medical reading has bothered me. I think is more so that I’m not seeing a high volume of patients so I feel less busy. It’s this weird mindset that I’m not getting as much done as I would like.
