Training Log 9.10.23

Training:
I think I made a “good” decision for the next 12 weeks. I’ll be running Complete Human Performance’s Strength and 10k program. I’ve needed to ensure I had a consistent running template. The past couple weeks of easy strength have felt like dog crap training. I’m noticing that I enjoy cookie cutter programs more because I don’t have to think and I can just train. Week one of the program went well. The volume of the overall training is way up compared to the programs I’ve been doing, but now is the time to add it in when other global stressors are less.

Day 1: UE Strength – Bench 295x3x3, DB bench 95x8x3, OHP 145x3x3, Rows
Day 2: LE Strength – Squat 455x4x4, Leg Press 560x10x3, RDL 285x6x3, accessories
Day 3: UE Hypertrophy – Bench 265x8x5, Incline w/ Squeeze press, Rows and accessories
Day 4: Full body – Lots of RDLS, step ups, DB RDL, arms

Running:
4 days this past week. The milage is much higher. I had 8 miles on the long day and the recovery day the following day helped. The interval runs killed me, which was not a surprise given how much LSS I’ve been doing and no faster paces. I’ve been using a treadmill on the tempo and interval days to ensure I’m working at the required paces. Don’t know if it’s good or bad.

BJJ:
Training in the evening and got 4 sessions in this week. Was sore as shit and I’m uncertain if this is due to getting right back into it or what. Training has felt off. I think it’s just the change in gym, more young inexperienced guys going at a higher pace. There’s pros and cons, just have concerns the injury risk is higher.

Stress:
Mixed. This stress index on Garmin has it up over the past week relatively, but still low medium.

Sleep:
Overall up, time asleep has been 7:28 on average. Beds have been trash which is not making me feel as rested as I would expect with the increased duration of sleep.

Learning:
Will finish the PN Sleep Stress and Recovery course this upcoming week. I’m excited to be done with that. Still have a month left in the change maker academy. Can’t say I’m really into either program at this point and am ready to move on. Still haven’t received grades from ILE so can’t start the next phase. Just finished Tap Dancing to Work – a book on Warren Buffet.
