Training Log 5.14.23

This whole week has been a little bit of a mess. Somethings have stayed consistent, but I’ll be transitioning to a new program this week.

Training: I pushed back my last day of the 25 rep week of week 9 of the hypertrophy and recovery program because I had my ACFT the previous Saturday. I ended up hitting the numbers that I wanted to hit. I did 500×25 on rack pull. I did 405×25 on squat. I hit 65×25 on KB kneeling press. Completed the 2 min timed test with pull ups every 30 sec. The 405×25 on squat beats a previous goal that I had many years ago of 405×20 on squat. Doing this after the rack pull set made me happy. I did this at a body weight of 200lb. On Thursday I had a planned training session with one of my partners. It ended up being a high volume shoulder day in a bodybuilding format. I was sore as hell because this is nothing like the training I’ve been doing. Because I hit the rep goal and my week was off I elected to transition to the Tactical Barbell base building template. Missing the ACFT run again made me think I need to spend more time working on my cardio. Ultimately I want to shift spring/summer to be more work on the cardiovascular system and fall winter to be more of a focus on strength and power.

BJJ: 2 sessions this week because I doubt I go in today with it being mother’s day.

Sleep/Recovery/Stress: I did sleep more this past week which was because I was getting in bed earlier. HRV average was 109 ms, RHR was 41. Work has been frustrating and we had another grandparent funeral this week so stress was elevated.

Learning: This has been an overall good week. Listened to the podcasts, did some writing, completed ILE lectures daily, finished the Honest Truth About Dishonesty.
