Training Log 11.6.22

Training:
Odd week. On the bench day I did a longer run than normal and flared up my SI joint. Took the deadlift/OHP day off and just did a ruck march on that day to get some active recovery and felt fine after that session. The squat day was 435×5, 410×5, 385×17. Bench day was 295×5, 275×5, 255×18.

Running:
Just did the runs on the lifting days. I think this is what flared my back up as I ran in a different pair of shoes. I think I’ve become a little dependent on the Xero minimalist shoes and putting on a heel strains my back.

BJJ:
4 sessions this week. Our gym had it’s five year anniversary so we did a quintette challenge. It was fun and I enjoy these in house or gym 1 on 1 challenges. It’s more casual and more fun than local or IBJJF competitions. I subbed four guys and timed out against the last guy. I felt like I was rolling well, which was nice. It was nice to put my 8 month son on the mats for the first time.

Sleep:
total time asleep was up to 6:12. I’ve been more conscious about this. I’ve been deprived more than normal the past couple weeks and was getting more irritable.

Diet:
Gave up coffee/energy drinks and alcohol for the month of November. I went through caffeine withdrawal 2 days in and was very fatigued and irritable. I’m curious to see how this goes. I felt like I had a hell of a lot more energy after those first three days.

Learning:
Take the Obesity Medicine Boards on Thursday and have been cranking out lectures. I’m uncertain how it will go. I feel pretty good about it, but will have to review several lectures this week. Finished Zero to One and started Ben Franklin’s Biography. I find that I really enjoy these and it’s cool hearing about what lead to the development of these key figures.
