Training Log 10.13.22

Training:
Finishing week 7 of Average to Savage. Squat sets were 435×5, 405×5, 385×10. Bench was 285×5, 265×5, 250×10. OHP is 170×5, 155×5, 145×10. Deads are going to get done tomorrow or on the weekend. I’ve enjoyed hitting rep maxes again with the minimum of three working sets. I feel like these workouts are efficient. I’ve been doing the mile prior to and after the lifts so that I’ getting a minimum run in and doing BJJ on most of the off days. This week I’ve been on vacation so I’ve been hiking daily.

Runs:
As above. Have been hiking daily while carrying our son and a pack so about 35lb of ruck weight, which has presented a new challenge with the elevation of the hikes. Most are about 2 hours.

BJJ:
Trained at a couple different local gyms which has been fun. Went to a 10th planet gym for the first time and their language is different, but I like their style. I wish we implemented more of it for our no-GI days back home. I still neglect wrestling more than I should.

Sleep:
Still working around my sons sleep schedule, but my sleep overall is increased. I’m in bed for 7:30 hours and asleep for 6:30. Still not where I want it to be.

HR/HRV:
Up this week because I’ve had wine every night. It’s been interesting seeing how much that’s impacting my HR. HRV is not as impacted, but HR is up 3-5 beats. I also haven’t been taking the magnesium which drops me down 3-4 beats per night. My HR is significantly higher for the first 3-4 hours I’m asleep which is just my body trying to clear the alcohol. Caffeine intake hasn’t really dropped. I plan on doing a dry and coffee free November.

Learning:
I think this is what I’m most disappointed about. I take the ABOM exam in a month and I’m behind where I want to be in my studying for this. I’ll have some additional regenerative medicine training in about a month as well.
