Training 7.24.22

Training July 23, 2022

Training: 

Things have been going well. Been following the tactical barbell. This week was a deload and just did 5 sets of 2 on everything. Tu – Squat, Bench, WPU. Thursday – Front Squat, Incline, Clean. Saturday – Deads, OHP, Leg press. I felt like I needed a deload and I took one. I have been reading through the green protocol for tactical barbell and I think I’m going to start his program from the book. I’ve been a little weak on the running. This week I just got 2 miles in prior to all the lifts. This has felt for me like something I need to commit. I’ve slowly been adding it in, but I’ve been nowhere near as consistent as I need to be. I buy the shoes, then just can’t get in to it. I don’t know if it’s because I don’t have a written template or what. 

BJJ: 

This week I trained 3 times. Two classes and an open mat. I’ve been working bottom side control. I think it’s important for me to work regarding this position as I don’t have the necessary wrestling background. I tend to be a guard player and have considered doing some privates with the best guard player that we have. 

Running: 

2 miles prior to all the lifts this week. For my birthday I got a GR1 rucksack and a 35lb plate. Have a front carrier for my son and did a 2 mile hike with the ruck and my son was 50lb. It is going to take some hardening. I’d like to add this in on Sundays or Mondays. 

Sleep: 

Past month has been down. Our son has been feeding a couple times a night and I’m not going to bed until 9:30 and always up at 4a. 

Stress: 

This past week was down from the previous one. I don’t think there will be much of a break over the next couple weeks. Next weekend my wife works the whole time which will set up some logistical challenges. 


Learning: 

Did a lot of journal reading this week which was nice. Going through a comfort crisis, tactical barbell and the journals. Did all the podcasts. Signed up for the obesity medicine boards. That’s been a couple years coming. I need to focus on the two months prior – September and October to get those done. Then I need to register for ILE after.
