Training Log 5.22.22

Training:

The past couple weeks have been all over the place. I was in Denver for continuing education and it was more or less a deload week. This past week I lifted twice and followed the tactical barbell template. I need to spend some time thinking about what I’m training for. I like the variety of tactical barbell, but I don’t think the cookie cutter program is going to be consistent with my work schedule as well as what I want to do with BJJ. I’m going to do three full body days with a squat, bench variation and pull. I think I’m going to finish with a weighted carry. For the runs it’s going to be interval, tempo, long run and recovery. BJJ – ideally I’ll be hitting 4 days a week, but I have a feeling it’s going to be more along the 3x a week until things settle down.

This past week I did lower box squats 315x5x5, bench 275x5x5, and WPU 40x5x5. Thursday I hit SSB 335x5x5, Bench 275x5x5, and cleans 205x3x5. I did a 4 mile run on Sunday at an easy pace and did a KB workout on Saturday.

Last weekend I had drill and took a diagnostic ACFT. I had a 590. I maxed everything, but the run. I was toast by the time I did the run and had the worst run I’ve ever had with the military. I mentally struggled because I was embarrassed with the time. I know that I’ve been deficient with where I need to be on the run. My pace was trash and I don’t think I have the baseline conditioning that I need. So it was a double deficit. I know that I need to be more consistent with the long runs and the tempo runs, both of which I don’t like to do.

BJJ:

Low number of training the past two weeks with 2 sessions each. I need to get this up and this means I’ll need to be training on the weekend or Monday. Since my wife went back to work I can’t get in the same number of training sessions. It’s been frustrating for me and I don’t have a solution to this yet.

Sleep:

Total time asleep last week was 6:53, which surprised me because I thought it was another crap week. The week before was 5:20. This was down because of the travel and my circadian rhythm being trash.

Stress:

Up. Lot of work dynamic issues going on, changes, staffing changes, management challenges, on top of a heavy clinical schedule. Unfortunately, I don’t see this going away in the next 6 months. I keep thinking it will just be another year and I’m 3 years in to this current position.

Learning:

Had a great week of training in Denver and left motivated to build a similar practice. Have overall been lazy with my learning and need to set a new schedule and course correct. Need to keep my focus on lifestyle medicine, obesity medicine and regen med over the next 6 months. I need to be ok with this and just set a schedule.
