Training Log 4.2.22

Training:
Past week of training was the worst I’ve had in a long time. I’ve felt the sleep deprivation coming on and my attitude to go train has been off. I had drill this past weekend which impacted my time this weekend. I also had completed 6 weeks of the easy strength template and was ready for a change. This past week I got in 2 lifting days and did recovery cardio and a circuit workout at drill. The lifts were nothing to write home about. I decided to shift back into the program which I’ve had benefit when I’ve run it previously. I’m going back to average to savage 1.0. I wanted to go back to a split routine to allow a little more recovery. I considered immediately going back to tactical barbells program, but didn’t want to do the same lifts over and over for the next couple months. It may be what I go into after this block or I may just start back into the base building tactical barbell program.

BJJ: Had 4 sessions this past week. Hit all of them. Strained my neck on Tuesday letting people stack and try their chokes which ended up being cranks. It was dumb and I was sore for about 4 days following.

Sleep: Was hopeful I’d be able to recover this weekend, but ended up having a roommate with sleep apnea and who wanted to talk for a long time. As such total time asleep continued to down trend to about 6:14 with time in bed being about 7 hours. This is less than the 7:30 I shoot for for time in bed.

Stress: It was up. Drill weekend wasn’t stressful, it just didn’t allow a lot of time to relax. My resting HR is up significantly to about 43bpm. I haven’t had this since the last time I was sick. I ended up with a little head cold on top of everything, which is just my body showing me that I need to rest more.

Learning: Really struggled with everything this past week. Chapter reading was hit or miss as well as the podcasts. Feel that it’s time for a reset. I do think I have an educational plan for the rest of the year including CCC, registering for ILE, finishing HLC 1 again, and getting through the ACLM and ABOM boards. It’s a lot for this calendar year, but I need programs like this to keep me focused on something.
