Training Log 3.20.22

The past couple weeks have been full of fatigue. I have been able to get the training in which has been the ritual or foundation of consistency. I’ve enjoyed the training and felt that there’s even been a little progress.

Training: I haven’t been able to get 5 days of lifting in like the easy strength template calls for. I think in hindsight doing something like the 10,000 swing challenge would be more appropriate if we have another kid. It would allow me to get in some quick workouts, but I don’t think it would really help prepare for the upcoming ACFT. It’s just another stressor trying to get the run workouts in as well. I’ve been alternating the sumo/convo deads with front squat/back squat for the first movement. I think limiting the sets has really helped mitigate some of the total stress from training. For front back squats I’ve been doing 265/355 for 5 reps each. For the deads I’ve kept it at 425. I do the run workouts before I lift because if I don’t I know I just won’t get them done. Another thing I’ve tried implementing is just a hip and back finisher with TRX YTW, lat pull downs and abduction/addiction for light high rep sets. The incline I’ve been doing sets of 225 which is up from the past couple weeks and I want to implement more unilateral sets with days of DB bench or KB OHP.

BJJ: Been training Tuesday-Friday. The weekends have been a mess. I would like to add a second training session after work on Friday evenings and will just have to feel this out over the next couple weeks. It’s an open mat session, which I feel like I greatly need.

Running: Been following a 5k split with 4 days a week. This remains my weakest training category. I do a tempo run, an interval run, a long run and a recovery run. I can’t get in to running and I again think this is what I need to focus some of my training.

Sleep: Total time in bed was down the past couple weeks to 7;15 and time asleep was down around 6:34. It’s still broken up so the quality is down. Been hitting the caffeine hard.

Stress: Overall up between parenting, work and outside obligations. Have to set up some travel and have a lot going on the next couple weeks.

Learning: Getting the minimums in with Duolingo, my chapter readings and podcasts. Still feel like I’m lacking with not getting in additional chapters or doing my writing. The writing has really been lacking. Again I might have to do this before I do my reading to be a little more consistent.
