Training Log 3/5/22

We got through week 3 of having a newborn. The stress has been cumulative on my wife and me. I wanted to be home more to help out. The newborn dictates the sleep schedule and this has been a struggle.

Training: It’s been an odd week of training. The sleep deprivation has caught up and I’m thankful I was able to get my lifts in. The deadlifts have continued to improve. The energy has continued to decline. The incline bench is creeping up, my push ups are getting more locked in, the weighted pull ups have been consistent and the deadlifts have responded the most. Push ups I’m doing sets of 30 after the press, the incline press has been sets of 215, the deads are 405 for 5 on sumo then 5 more immediately following on conventional, the weighted pull ups are with 40lb KBs. I’m considering doing alternating days of front squats and back squats every other day with the deadlifts. This might defeat the purpose of the easy strength template, but I miss doing them and I don’t want to neglect the front squat. There is a slight pause between the two because I take a plate off between the two lifts. Running has been so so. I ran three times this week.

BJJ: Got three sessions in this week. I took a day off because I needed blood work. Training has been ok so far. In my head I want to train 4 days a week, do a boxing class on Saturday and wrestling on Sunday. I think this may be possible in the future.

Sleep: Total sleep decreased to 6:22 a night. This was broken up and made me feel a lot less rested.

Stress: I’m in an odd position where global stress is higher than it’s ever been. Demands at home and at work are high, but I don’t feel like any of it is insurmountable.

Learning: Took a step back this week. I felt like I had a bunch of other stuff going on and got in my chapter readings, podcasts, and journal reading, but not a lot extra. I felt like for two months I had a great routine and this fell off a little recently.
