Training:
This week I trained less than I have in a while. It still was a fair amount, but going back to work required changes. I had to get two quick sessions in prior to BJJ and things were much harder given the sleep deprivation. What’s been interesting is that even though I’m sleepy, the weights have remained fairly consistent. I thought there would be more of a drop off. What I ultimately reduced was my running. Our BJJ gym has a rack, but it doesn’t have a treadmill. I also don’t think I had an idea how to set up my lifting days given my work schedule not being consistent day to day. I’ll likely train Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday for the easy strength template. I’ll get runs in on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. On days I’m at the BJJ gym I’ve been doing the deads, buffalo bar bench, pull ups. On the days I’m at the gym I’m doing incline bench, deads, weighted pull ups, a back circuit and abs.
BJJ:
Got 4 sessions in this week and was tired for all of them. Overall it was a good week of training and I’m content with the volume given the circumstances.
Diet:
Thankfully we’ve had people dropping off meals consistently for the past two weeks. It’s probably the most take out I’ve eaten since I lived in NYC. Body comp has remained stable nonetheless
Sleep:
Total sleep is down to 6:41. It’s interesting to me that my total sleep is still above baseline. I think this because we’re so tired we’re in bed for much longer. The broken up sleep is taking a toll, but I’m hopeful this improves with time.
Stress:
It’s been tough having a newborn and training. Went back to work, which added more stress worrying about my wife being with the kiddo.
Learning:
Still trying to finish McMaster’s book. It’s taken a while to get through, but it’s interesting gaining his perspective about US foreign policy in recent year. I finished the Chek HLC 2 course today. I think I enjoyed HLC 1 more, but it was a good program. I have a feeling, eventually I’ll do HLC 3 because I enjoy his perspective.
