Past couple of weeks have been off physically and even a little bit mentally. Haven’t had the same level of drive and I think both of these things are stemming from a drop in sleep quality. Training has been going ok with some recent modifications. I’ve been rotating the accessories. The concept I’ve been considering late is that of honor and if it’s important. I’ve been having a discussion with some of my roommates about do you approach your job as you are trying to maximize your personal return versus going in and doing the best job that you can. I do think there are win win opportunities where we are driven to do our best and this leads to a great employee for the company. I also think there are situations where the company and the employee are trying to maximize how much they can get out of each other, but this will lead to issues with retention and poor quality work. Right now I tend to lean towards over compensating an employee to retain and reward to motivate them to perform well. I still believe in honor and doing the right thing. I do think this may lead to us individually getting taken advantage of. This may lead to loss of income. I think it’s also on us to identify if we still believe the organization we are a part of has a mission statement and to identify if they are living it. If there is a disconnect I think we need to have the courage to move on.
Training:
Average to Savage 1.0 Week 7
The best day of this training session felt like the bench day where I hit 240×21. Deadlift was a very weak 510×4 following the 10 mile Ruck. For the OHP I did double KB OHP as the rack was taken and I hit 80x5x2, then 70×12, Squat I hit 365×15. The Ruck was on 9.11 where I wore 40lb of gear and walked 10.5 miles. The ruck felt fine after and we ran probably 2.5 miles of the course.
BJJ:
2 training sessions this past week. I got the second COVID shot and felt like absolute trash. This impacted my recovery and sleep the past week as well.
Sleep: Again has been a poor week and it’s been hard to crank up the intensity with only 7:08 in bed and 5:55 time asleep.
Stress: mixed. Overall lower than normal, but that at times makes me feel lazy. Happy my family is currently healthy.
Learning: Been reading outside of my normal stuff and it’s been enjoyable. Working through books on elimination of hurry, on Eisenhower, and the normal texts.
