Training Log 8.24.21

f you seek me you will find. Over the past week I’ve had some wonderful forms of intervention. These have been episodes and conversations that have helped reframe some past preconceptions about my relationship with other people. The first thing that helped me was we need to look for ways that people are telling us that they love us. It may just be that they showed up. For some people it’s hard to verbalize their feelings. There also is the thought that people have variable contexts of what it means to be a good parent.

Training: The past week has gone moderately well from a training perspective. I still need to bench today to hit a training rep max. I’m uncertain how hard I’m going to push this given very little sleep last night. OHP was 165 for 10, squats were 410 for 10, deads I did band speed pulls with 315x2x8.

Running: Still finding that my body is adjusting, but things are going well. Did a slow 5k on Sunday. Still struggling with establishing this as a habit.

BJJ: Training 3x a week and teaching every class. It’s been a struggle trying to get my training in while teaching. The numbers have continued to improve every class. Still training on a turf field which is leading to continued turf burn.

Sleep: Relatively poor over the past week. Still floating around 5:55 for total hours asleep. Time in bed has been a consistent 7:15.

Stress: increased. The wonderful news is I paid off all student loans this week. It’s been a several year journey and we’ve been aggressive. This hopefully will give us a little more flexibility on how we can contribute in the future.

Learning: Working on an MSK presentation. Continuing to work through several books which I hope to complete by the end of the month. That was my original goal and I’m hopeful to get that completed. My outside reading has been wonderful. Continuing to go through Dan John’s 40 years and a whistle, the relentless elimination of hurry, and a real estate book.
