Training: Week 2 of Average to Savage 1.0. This is the third or fourth time I’ve done this program. I continue to feel that it’s beneficial and I’m able to handle the volume. Reps for this week – Squat: 355×10, 335×10, 315×22. Bench 240×10, 225×10, 205×19. OHP: 145×10, 135×10, 125×19. Dead’s Sumo Speed: 315x2x8. I’m planning on alternating the Deadlifting workouts so I hit the reps and max work on weeks 1 and three and speed work on weeks 2 and four in each block. I’m hoping this prevents overtraining throughout the program as dead’s are traditionally what I struggle to recover from. Compared to when I ran the program in December my deads, squat and OHP strength seems to have improved, but bench has dipped a little. I don’t know if this is attributable to weight loss or weakness.
BJJ: restarted training and have been teaching a couple nights a week. Have been training on a turf field and have been getting turf burn. Very different training experience than at home. Will hopefully continue to improve with time. Hopefully we get mats soon.
Sleep: Poor over the past week. Part of this has been increased stress. Part of it has been changing beds a couple times. Quality and quantity dropped. Total time asleep was actually up last week to 6:35. With a time in bed of 7:40. I assumed I was less efficient.
Stress: increased significantly. Wife has been sick and is pregnant and there’s not a lot I can do to help. Clinical responsibilities have increased, while civilian work continues to be a burden. Need to find new routine with all the constant change.
Learning: Finished why doctors don’t get Rich and Hickson Gracies Breath. Both were pretty marginal. Still reading 4-5 chapters a day. I would like to write a little more than I have been.
