Training Log 8.3.21

Starting to get into a new routine again. It’s been a big adjustment, but stress is greatly down overall. I feel like I’ve been doing a good job avoiding boredom.

Training: I restarted Average to Savage 1.0. I didn’t have access to a pool and wanted to lift 4 days a week because I have time. I was sore for 5 days from the first squat workout and I’m curious to see how things go this week. It’s funny how I went from one of the best possible benches to a commercial gym bench with an elevated head rest and that’s been an adjustment. I’ve been lifting at 4a every day which has been fine. I was going to focus more on peri-workout nutrition and supplementation over the next 16 weeks and we’ll see how that goes. My L shoulder was giving me fits on the OHP day. I’ve been doing a lot more KB OHP with lighter weights to try to get that movement pattern going. Running has been 4 days a week and that’s been the biggest adjustment. I’m surprised my weight hasn’t dropped at all. Squat: 335×12, 315×12, 295×25. Bench 225×12, 205×12, 205×23. DL 435x12x1, 435x8x3. OHP: 135×12, 125×12, 105×15.

BJJ: Still have not found the training group and that’s been upsetting. I’m wondering if I’ll be able to train over the next couple months.

Diet: Given I cranked up my level 2 cardio to 2 hours a day with reading and the additional training I cranked up the calories. I’ve been eating all cafeteria food which the quality is suspect. I can’t tell if there’s been any change to body composition to date.

Sleep: Quantity is way up. In bed for 7:39 with a time asleep of 6:15. It’s interesting that I’m getting about 40 minutes more in bed to get the same amount of sleep. I would suspect that the quality is way down do to the temp and mattress.

Learning: Have been reading 2 nutrition chapters, a sports med chapter, a medicine chapter and a finance chapter a day. Finished Unbroken and finished Think Again. I’ve been reading 3-4 hours a day. I’m curious to see if it’s sustainable. I still think my goal is to finish the CISSN over the next month. I’m uncertain I’ll be able to justify spending significant case on some of the certifications until I can get an accurate sense of my finances with the change
