Took about a month off from writing, which was unintentional. Started the Hybrid Athlete strength + 10k template. I’ve did most of the week 1 workouts the week we got back and then repeated week 1 as a means of adjusting to the volume. I’ve been out of several of the habits I thought I did a good job developing over the past year. For some reason I thought I was going to use Lent as a time to get on top of several of these habits (reading, writing, blogging, research) and none of them happened. I actually regressed. It was more challenging completing the last program, going on vacation and then coming back and trying to find motivation. I haven’t felt this lost with training since the shut down last year. Curiously, it all happened around a similar time of the year.
Training: Week 1 – the biggest difference is the running and the total volume compared to the last program. It’s a huge jump up in total volume with the addition of more unilateral work. I’m uncertain that I can handle the volume over time, but for now it’s been fun. It feels good to leave a workout and feel like works been accomplished. The hard part is finding what works best for my body. I really struggled with the volume of average 2 savage 2.0. This so far has felt fine. I felt better with the programs like average to savage 1.0 as well as the post deployment program.
BJJ: Training was only about three times a week the two weeks I got back from the trip and this past week I’ve trained five times. I’m trying to balance starting this new program and not over doing it. We finished a foot lock month and this month we’re working on the crucifix. It’s a game that I don’t normally play. We started competition classes on the weekend. I’m not sure that I’m a fan of them yet.
Sleep/Stress: The past week the average time in bed was 7:29 with the average time asleep of 6:14. The average sleep score was 72 and % efficiency was down to 83%
Diet: Diet has been up and down. Was doing a good job cooking all my meals. Did some feasting around the holiday. Considering different rules around alcohol. I feel like that has been up overall again. Not excessive, just one a night which I think becomes a habit too easily.
Learning: Working through the great lecture series on psychology. I feel like my reading has been way down. I stated this earlier that all my learning habits took a hit the past couple weeks.
