Training Log 1.26.21

Haven’t been as consistent as I would like with Rolling reflections nor journal club. I just need to get that done on Fridays. I enjoy doing it. I’m uncertain if it’s just finding a routine again or if I wasn’t finding as much enjoyment from the blog as I would like.

Training: Week 9 Average to Savage 1.0. This week was a mess. I got sick for about 48 hours and had really bad muscle aches. As such I condensed a couple days and it’s been an odd week. Went 130×15 on OHP, 240×15 on bench, 350×15 on squat, and 470×12 on sumo dead. Today was the first day I pushed anything with the lifts and did ok with the deads. Those are chugging right along and felt good today. I’m still throwing in some single arm carries after the main lifts. I started throwing in some bicep, tricep, hamstring and calf isolation work in a superset to end things off to see how that goes over the next month or two.

BJJ: Had three training days in prior to getting sick. Missed a Friday for the first time in about 7 months. Felt very odd to sleep in to try to recover. I’ve been really happy with some of the concepts – sweeps from half, overhook submissions from half. It all fits in my game well.

Sleep: This was a mess the past week. Time in bed was skewed up to 8:00, but my time asleep was about the same at 6:36 due to trouble staying asleep.

Stress: With the illness was up and with my side job stress has been up as well. I’ve been thinking a lot about where I want to be in a 5 years and I know I just want the ability to be able to make different choices. We’ll see how things go in between now and then.

Learning: Getting through Upside down thinking as a means to take a break from the Robert Greene book on War. It was just going on too long and I like a change of pace. This book is kooky like I am. Still not doing enough writing, but it’s a little bit often and taking time to do at least the training log.
