Training Log 12.22.20

Training: Week 4 Average to Savage 1.0. This week was the first rep max testing week. I always think it’s interesting how much deadlifts smoke my CNS. You essentially are doing the rep max testing for that lift in week 3 and I felt like it carried over through the beginning of the week. I also wonder if it’s putting more strain on my neck. I ended up hitting 150×12 on OHP, 415×12 on Squat, and Bench 275×12. All of the training max weights were then raised by 15lb. We’ll see how the next four week block goes with the increased intensity. I think I need to do a better job on the accessory work selection. Louie always talks about doing a 20% main lift to 80% accessory ratio. I just wonder if I’m getting the quality out of my accessories. Maybe I need to be more mindful about the exercise selection. I’ve been trying to be efficient this week with the time of the lifting session and running a bit more with my dog.

BJJ: I’ve been a bit frustrated over the past month. Still trained 4 times last week. Quality of training feels like there’s been a huge drop off.

Sleep: Sleep was down again last week. We were going to bed later than we wanted to, no good reason why this was taking place. This is something to work on this week.

Stress: I feel a little more anxious with the holidays approaching. I feel like steady state will never be reached at work. I felt like last year there was a big push at the end of the year which helped early on in the year. Maybe I’ve just been reflecting a little bit more. At times this helps me plan for the year, which can be overwhelming at first. HRV was way down last week, likely due to the sleep.

Diet: has been good. Still using the slow cooker to increase my lunch time veggies. Not as many quick meals.

Learning: Have been all over the place with my reading. Working through another Jocko book, Mental Model books, Fooled by Randomness, a great course on Audible. BE 2.0. Finished the Smartest Money Book. I feel like my BJJ training my learning has been all over. I need to focus on getting some MSK CME done in the first couple months of the new year.
