Training: Week 2 Average to Savage 1.0. Again, I’m feeling much better on this program than on version 2.0. I think the decrease in relative volume has been a life saver. I was a little dumb this week in realizing that I wasn’t doing my rep drop sets on the deadlifts. I’ll probably not do the three additional sets, because I’ve been feeling good thus far. There’s been additional volume adding the power cleans prior to the DL. I’ve been doing loaded carries and correctives in between sets similar to when I was doing the post deployment program and that’s going ok. Numbers this week were Sumo Dead 455×12, Bench 205×22, Squat 315×20, and OHP 110×22. As predicted, felt a lot more comfortable this week with the higher rep sets. Hopefully, that trend continues on to next week as well. Curious to see how the drop from a 10RM to a 5RM will go next week.
BJJ: Was the lowest number of training days in a while with 3. Had drill over the weekend which cut out two training days. Instructor is competing away and will be out of the gym for another week or two. It’s impacted training thus far.
Sleep: Sleep was way down this past week. I got stressful news in the middle of the week which impacted it heavily. 6:45 time in bed and only 6:02 asleep on average.
Stress: As stated above it was up a lot. HRV has been consistent over the past week or so at 100. This is down from the last time I felt pretty good about a month ago. I think this is down due to increased alcohol intake and worse sleep quality.
Diet: Up and down again. Overall, have been more mindful about preparing meals. I’ve been having 1-2 drinks a day. Still getting lots of quality food and limiting junk.
Learning: Finished The Five Levels of Attachment. I enjoyed it, not as much as the Four Agreements. Still working on doing the journal club weekly and doing my textbook reading. I’ve been getting a little lazy with the additional reading and that’s because I haven’t been making it a priority.
