Late on the log this week.
Training: Average to Savage 2.0 Week 11-12. Load and intensity went up and I overtrained. I modified the training days while on vacation and I think this contributed as well. We came back and picked up our dog from training. She had diarrhea and was up every couple hours, so we were up every couple of hours. As a result I had my worst week of sleep in a long time after the best week of sleep. It’s kind of silly how that happens. Was barely hitting the goal reps on the squat days this week. It’s just frustrating because I’m about a week and a half out from the deload day. I’m questioning if I should just take the deload now. The problem is I’m on the fence of just completing this macrocycle and transitioning to Average to Savage 1.0. I remember having great results with that program and I’m concerned I’m currently getting too beat up. My knees and R oblique are not recovering like they should, which is a sign training is going overboard. I did a hike everyday on the trip and it was good. I did a trail run on Black Mountain and I think that was very taxing on the CNS.
BJJ: Felt good to be back. Things have been all over the place from a training perspective. Overall, I feel like I’ve been rolling poorly. When I’ve trained with some guys I haven’t in a while, they stated I’ve made good strides. It was reassuring because I’ve been training a lot more, but not feeling the payout.
Sleep: Was significantly improved while on vacation. 8:15 in bed and 7:00 time asleep. Was sleeping really well while on vacation. I was surprised because the bed sucked.
Stress: Overall, stress is down this weekend. I had my IFM test on Friday and I think that went poorly. I won’t find out the results for several weeks of both the test and the case study. I’m a little torn on what to do with an unsuccessful result. I personally just feel burnout going through these standard programs over and over. I just need some time to prioritize and read for enjoyment.
Diet: overall was great on vacation. Came back and started using my slow cooker for my meals which was a great idea. Makes all my meals for the week in an hour or so.
Learning: Finished the IFM test and haven’t felt great about it. Surprisingly, I feel mentally a lot better since it’s completion. Finished Dan Millman’s Mind Body Mastery. Working through Howard Marks – the Most Important Thing.
