This week felt better. I didn’t have as many meetings and I was afforded the time to read. It was a nice change of pace. I ended up having a coaching call this past week which I found to be beneficial. I do think that I need to put out more information on this site regarding things that I care about – nutrition, fight medicine, functional medicine, business.

Lessons:
1. I need to have a goal
2. Hedge
Over the past year I’ve been afforded the opportunity to have multiple coaches. One was through my graduate program and the other through the Level 2 Precision Nutrition Certification. I’ve found them both to be beneficial in order to get feedback from an objective party. In the coaching course they teach you to ask questions that allow the coachee to think through scenarios themselves. I found it curious that I left the call continuing to think about it long after and trying to answer more questions. I came away with the understanding that I’m attempting to go through a self-actualization phase of life relatively early. This is a new phenomenon as in history, most people are just trying to get through the day to day. I think more people are considering this question given the COVID pandemic. People could stop and pause and ask “what am I doing?”I think over the past year I’ve struggled with my first year in practice. I kept thinking, “Is this all that there is?” I entered a frustratingly inefficient system that does not provide what I believe to be quality care. My attitude has not been great. I’ve spent the better part of the past year being pissed off. Changing a culture is incredibly challenging and that’s the current situation I’m in. I think at work my goal is clear. Provide the highest quality care possible.
Regarding my personal goal and passion – Lifestyle medicine is probably what I’m most passionate about. This includes nutrition, supplementation, exercise, sleep, spirituality, interpersonal relationships and personal finance. Helping people implement the basics so they can pursue what they’re passionate about. Overall, this appears to be health coaching.
The coach I spoke to mentioned the importance of the barbell method. Doing more of your passion while doing your job to provide for your family.

Lesson: Attitude and thinking. Focus on service. Start each day with gratitude.
This series was also recommended during the coaching session. The take away was live each day to the best of your ability. Maintain a goal that you’re striving for. Live a life of service and integrity. Attitude comes from having enthusiasm for what you’re doing. I’m uncertain if enthusiasm or passion is the better word. The service thing I’ve struggled with, should I pick something to do for service, or live a life of service. Looking to help others. I didn’t realize how much of the self-help world seems to steam from his teachings. You become what you think about.
