Week 9 Post-Deployment Training Log Week 9 of 12

The Workout: the weeks of 1 set of 25 end up being a nice reprieve. You are in and out quickly. The final day of this week was nice hitting the goal numbers for 25. 315 for 25 was more challenging than I thought it would be and 405 on the rack pull was much easier. I kept thinking that I wanted to use at least 365 for the squat weight, but today I’m uncertain I had that in me. I think the rack pull could have been calibrated up as well. I do feel like the carries are much more stable than when I started and that’s been noticeable throughout the program. The single arm carries are often my most neglected part of the program. I’m not curious to see how things end in the next couple weeks.

Other training: started teaching a BJJ fundamentals class on Monday mornings and added the other day of training. Currently at 5 days per week. I’m excited for the challenge of teaching. I’ve wanted to do this since I was a student strength coach in college.

Stress: work actually seems like a normal schedule this week without meetings on my off days. Trying to get an IRB submitted this past week was the outside stress. Sleep continues to be restricted by the dog. No issues falling asleep, many issues staying asleep with a dog that has to pee. My wife and I were talking about how the trade off of the life change is worth it as we’re not as uptight.
